Food Distribution Project at Kalma IDP Camp

On Saturday, 06/22/2024, food was distributed at the Kalma Camp for displaced persons in South Darfur State by the Darfur Victims Support Organization in partnership with the Save Geneina Initiative. The beneficiaries were selected from the most needy among the displaced in the camp, even though all displaced persons in the camp require food. Nevertheless, the organization’s representative, in cooperation with the camp administration, was able to identify 150 families within the camp to benefit from the provided food, and the number of individuals reached more than 973, most of whom were women, children, and the elderly. The distribution was overseen by the camp administration and the coordinator of the camps for displaced persons and refugees.

The displaced persons expressed their gratitude to the two organizations, the Darfur Victims Support Organization and Save El-Geneina Initiative, for the food assistance provided to them. They showed their appreciation and, despite the difficult situation on the ground, the organizations were able to provide them with food. They mentioned that they felt hope for the future and that they were appreciated in the minds of any existing organizations that still feel their suffering. They also requested more food assistance.
