Amid the ongoing war and clashes between the army, the Rapid Support Forces, and armed movements in the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, on August 10, 2024, a team from the Darfur Victims Support Organization and the Save El Geneina Initiative managed to deliver humanitarian aid to the displacement camps, including the Zamzam camp and the shelters at the secondary school for boys and Al-Salam School. A total of 240 food baskets were distributed, sufficient for a family for about one to two weeks. It is worth noting that there are cases of malnutrition in the Zamzam camp and the shelters due to the war in the city and the three-month siege by the Rapid Support Forces, which have also bombed health centers and hospitals, creating a humanitarian crisis. Additionally, the army’s warplanes have bombed some health centers and hospitals.
The Darfur Victims Support Organization and the Save El Geneina Initiative issue an urgent humanitarian appeal to the warring parties to declare a ceasefire for humanitarian reasons in the city, allowing for the opening of humanitarian corridors and permitting the entry of humanitarian and international organizations. There is a dire humanitarian need to stop the war in Sudan and protect civilians.
