Report on the Distribution of Humanitarian Aid in Al-Liqawe Camp – East Darfur State, Al-Daein, December 23, 2024
Amid the escalating humanitarian crisis engulfing Sudan due to the ongoing conflict since April 15, 2023, the Darfur Victims support Organization, in collaboration with the “Save Al-Geneina” Initiative and the Hope Refugees Organization, has successfully conducted its second humanitarian aid distribution campaign. This initiative targeted Al-Liqawe Camp, located north of Al-Daein in East Darfur State, providing comprehensive food baskets containing sorghum, sugar, soap, pasta, flour, and rice. These aid packages were designated to address the needs of 100 families, comprising approximately 411 individuals, with priority given to women and children suffering from acute food insecurity and dire living conditions.
Field Challenges
National organizations such as the Darfur Victims support Organization operate under exceedingly challenging circumstances due to severe security risks, including continued aerial bombardments by military aircraft affiliated with the Sudanese Armed Forces. One of the most notable incidents highlighting the gravity of the situation was the death of three humanitarian workers from the World Food Programme in Yabus, Blue Nile State, following an airstrike targeting them during their mission. Furthermore, security restrictions have impeded the delivery of humanitarian aid to numerous affected areas, including Darfur, Kordofan, and Al-Jazeera, exacerbating the suffering of the local populations and obstructing relief efforts.

The head of Al-Liqawe Camp, present during the aid distribution, praised the efforts of the Darfur Victims Advocacy Organization and the “Save Al-Geneina” Initiative.
