Amidst the deteriorating humanitarian situation and the ongoing armed conflict in North Darfur, Darfur Victims Support Organization and Safe Haven Organization continue their emergency relief efforts through the Humanitarian Field Kitchen Project, now operating for the ninth consecutive day in Tawila locality. This area has become a temporary refuge for tens of thousands of families fleeing the horrors of war.
Today, our team successfully distributed urgent food aid to 150 newly displaced families, most of whom have arrived from El Fasher and its surrounding camps, including Abu Shouk, Abuja, and Zamzam, where conditions remain dire and unfit for basic human survival due to extreme shortages in food, water, shelter, and healthcare services.
Our dedicated volunteers are working tirelessly under increasingly difficult circumstances to address the most pressing needs of the most vulnerable groups—women, children, and the elderly—who now make up the majority of the displaced population. With each passing day, the number of new arrivals grows, stretching our limited resources to their breaking point.
We stress that this situation, if left unaddressed, could spiral into an uncontrollable humanitarian catastrophe. Local efforts alone are no longer sufficient to meet the escalating demands. Therefore, we urgently appeal to the international community, humanitarian agencies, UN bodies, and donor institutions to act swiftly in supporting emergency response operations in Tawila locality, and to help sustain and expand the life-saving services provided by the field kitchen.
We believe that humanitarian solidarity, especially in times of great hardship, is the key to alleviating suffering and preserving human dignity. Do not let the displaced people of Darfur face this ordeal alone.
