Report on the Killing of a Child 17 Years a Passenger Bus by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in North Kordofan State..
The Darfur Victims support Organization conducted an interview with the family of Musa Ahmed Mohammed Mahmoud, a 17-year-old student at Al-Adnan Private Schools in South Darfur State, Nyala, on June 29, 2024, in North Kordofan State, Um Rawaba locality. At approximately 3:30 PM, a passenger bus carrying Mohammed and others arrived in Um Rawaba locality, coming from Nyala, South Darfur State.
At the outskirts of Um Rawaba, the bus was stopped at a checkpoint belonging to the Rapid Support Forces on the western side of the town. The drivers were questioned and allowed to pass. At the second checkpoint, located east of the town, the bus was stopped by an armed group riding eight motorcycles and wearing Rapid Support Forces uniforms. They opened fire randomly on the bus, which resulted in the immediate death who sustained a head injury, and the injury of three other individuals whose names have not been identified. The armed group then looted the bus, which was carrying approximately 30 passengers.
The body was transferred to Kosti Hospital in White Nile State, where an autopsy was performed, and a death certificate was issued. He was buried in Abu Sharif Cemetery in Kosti.
Recommendations:
1/ the family demands the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators.
2/ Retribution and compensation for the family.
3/ The family calls upon the international community to exert pressure on the parties to the conflict to stop the war.
