The Darfur Victims Advocacy Organization issues an urgent humanitarian call due to the worsening malnutrition crisis in the Kalma camp for displaced people in South Darfur State. According to Mr. Adam Regal, spokesperson for the Coordination of the Displaced, children are suffering from food shortages and a lack of basic necessities amid dire humanitarian conditions faced by children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers in the camp.
We appeal to international organizations and UN agencies for immediate intervention to support civilians. Kalma camp is one of the largest camps in the Darfur region and shelters more than 3 million civilians.
The World Food Programme has reported severe funding shortages, putting displaced lives at risk. Meanwhile, the Darfur region has experienced over twenty years of ongoing conflict, now entering a second phase of fighting since April 15, 2025, between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
We urge all parties to the conflict to halt hostilities and open humanitarian corridors to save civilians from the escalating catastrophe.
