The Organization (DVSO) condemns the killing of the Sudanese child, Al-Nazeir Al-Sadiq Ali Mohamed Bashir. An eyewitness informed the organization that the Egyptian police arrested Al-Nazeir, who died inside the Badr police detention center on February 11, 2026, after his arrest on January 18, 2026, from in front of his residence in Cairo, despite him carrying a card issued by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) proving his status as a refugee.
According to his family’s statements, the Egyptian police detained him in harsh conditions lacking the minimum requirements of care, and his body is still in the morgue and has not been handed over to his family.
The organization demands an investigation and accountability for the perpetrators.
The organization holds the Egyptian government fully responsible and appeals to the High Commissioner for Refugees to play its role in protecting Sudanese refugees according to the law.
