Al-Ahd Al-Jadeed Primary School Launched to Serve Displaced Children in North Darfur

Hope and Haven Refugees Organization & Darfur Victims Support Organization (DVSO)

Date: January 28, 2026

The Hope and Haven Refugees Organization and the Darfur Victims Support Organization (DVSO), in collaboration with the Yalla Nabtasim Volunteer Association and with direct funding from the Hope and Haven Organization, announce the establishment of the “Al-Ahd Al-Jadeed” Primary School inRwanda IDP Camp in El Fasher, North Darfur State.

Rwanda Camp shelters over half a million internally displaced persons (IDPs), the majority of whom are women and children living under dire humanitarian conditions marked by a near-total absence of basic services, most notably education.

The school was constructed through the self-help efforts of the three organizations and consists of:
• 6 Classrooms
• 1 Teachers’ Office
• 4 Sanitation Facilities

The school was officially inaugurated on Monday, January 26, 2026, in the presence of:
• Local community leaders.
• Representatives from the Hope and Haven Refugees Organization.
• Representatives from the Darfur Victims Support Organization (DVSO).
• Representatives from the Yalla Nabtasim Association.
• A representative from the Education Sector.
• Representatives from the Civil Authority.
• Youth and women’s representatives from the camp.
• Various civil society organizations.

Despite this significant achievement, the school faces immense challenges—primarily a severe shortage of school furniture (desks and chairs) and essential educational supplies. This shortage threatens the continuity of the educational process for hundreds of children.

Accordingly, the Hope and Haven Refugees Organization and the Darfur Victims Support Organization (DVSO) launch an urgent humanitarian appeal to all local, regional, and international organizations. We call for immediate intervention and support for this school to guarantee the right of children in Rwanda Camp to a safe and dignified education.
