An eyewitness from Kassala told the organization that the army-affiliated security cell has detained 83 civilians, mostly from Darfur, since the outbreak of the war on April 15, 2023, at the headquarters of the 41st Infantry Brigade, located in the 41st Brigade Primary School. Among the detainees is a child named Mohammed, aged 16. Mohammed’s father has been sentenced to death on charges of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces. Mohammed comes from a displaced family that fled from Khartoum to Kassala due to the war.
Some detainees have been held for a year and a half, others for six or eight months, without any formal charges. They have been subjected to torture, and some, including a man named Issa, were forced to work as cooks for the security cell. There is a complete lack of healthcare inside the detention center, and the spread of dengue fever in Kassala poses a serious threat to their lives.
The organization appeals to the Office of the High Commissioner and human rights organizations for urgent intervention to provide legal assistance. It calls on the army and the security cell to either bring the detainees to trial or release them.

83معتقل غالبيتهم من أبناء دارفور داخل مقر الخلية الأمنية بولاية كسلا بينهم طفل عمره ١٦ عام ،تعرب منظمة مناصرة ضحايا دارفور عن قلقها البالغ عن تدهور الحالة الصحية للمعتقلين في ولاية كسلان شرق السودان، حيث افاد شاهد عيان للمنظمة من كسلا إن الخلية الأمنية التابعة للجيش قامت باعتقال ٨٣ مدني غالبيتهم من دارفور منذوا بداية حرب ١٥ ابريل ٢٠٢٣م في قيادة اللواء ٤١ مشاة في مدرسة اللواء ٤١ الابتدائية من بين المعتقلين طفل إسمه محمد ١٦ عام ،والد محمد محكوم عليه بالإعدام بحجة متعاون مع قوات الدعم السريع، محمد من أسرة نازحة هربت من الخرطوم إلي ولاية كسلا بسبب الحرب ،بعض المعتقلين اضموا عام ونصف ،٦ أشهر، ٨ أشهر من دون توجيه أي تهم لهم ،تعرضوا إلي تعذيب تم إجبار البعض منهم إن يعملوا طباخين للخلية الأمنية من بينهم عيسي، انعدام الرعاية الصحية داخل المعتقل، انتشار مرض حمي الضنك في كسلا يعرض حياتهم للخطر، تناشد المنظمة مكتب المفوض السامي ،ومنظمات حقوق الإنسان بضرورة التدخل العاجل لتقديم العون القانوني، تطالب المنظمة الجيش والخلية الأمنية بتقديمهم إلي محاكمة أو إطلاق سراحهم .
