The organization condemns the targeting by an army drone of the market in the Al-Sayyah administrative unit, located east of Mellit in North Darfur State. Eyewitnesses informed the organization that at approximately 11:00 AM Sudan time on June 23, 2026, a drone strike targeted the area, leading to the complete burning of the market, causing deaths and injuries, in addition to significant losses in property and citizens’ livelihoods. Due to poor communications, the organization has not yet obtained the names of those killed and injured; however, the organization will conduct an investigation and issue a detailed report on the incident. The organization holds the army fully responsible for targeting civilians and civilian objects, and calls upon the UN Security Council to protect civilians.
