Amidst extremely complex humanitarian conditions, the Hope and Haven Refugees Organization and the Darfur Victims Support Organization (DVSO) implemented an urgent humanitarian intervention in Assalaya Locality, East Darfur State – El Daein, on April 11, 2026. The intervention involved distributing food baskets targeting 60 of the most vulnerable and affected families, reaching approximately 240 individuals, the majority of whom are women, the elderly, and children displaced from various regions of Sudan.
This intervention comes in response to the continuous worsening of living conditions and acute food shortages at a time when local communities are suffering from the repercussions of conflict and instability.
This effort reflects the commitment of both organizations to stand by those affected, work to alleviate their suffering, and strengthen their resilience in the face of harsh conditions. Furthermore, this intervention marks the first response carried out by local organizations in the region since the outbreak of the war on April 15, 2023.
The two organizations issue an urgent humanitarian appeal to all local, regional, and international organizations for immediate intervention, the provision of further humanitarian aid, and the expansion of the response scope to include all affected areas.
