Grounded in our moral and legal duty to protect civilians and prevent grave violations of international humanitarian law, we issue this urgent appeal amidst escalating violence in Sudan’s Kordofan states. Intensified hostilities between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, marked by drone strikes and shelling in densely populated areas, have caused civilian casualties and widespread destruction. The situation in El Obeid, North Kordofan, is particularly alarming, with growing military mobilization threatening large‑scale urban combat. We call for an immediate nationwide humanitarian truce, protection of civilian infrastructure, and unhindered humanitarian access to avert further catastrophe.
